Dharma Kids Back in Full Swing

The Dharma Kids program is back in full swing as of Mid-October. This year we will meet twice a month at the same time as Tonglen and Calm Abiding Sundays.

The children in the program have been having lots of fun so far this season learning about compassion and loving kindness, the six Paramitas, making paper lotuses and tormas out of clay, participating in various meditations such as a walking meditation and other Dharma activities.

And the practice group leaders are learning a lot from the sweet children such as good qualities and good jokes!

Lama Pema and Lama Yeshe give a wonderful Dharma talk for the children at the beginning of each session. The kids seem to listen with great attention.

We decided to go with the same theme for the year that Lama Pema and Lama Yeshe chose for KSC:  Community and Compassion.

Embracing this theme, we're appreciating parent involvement helping out at each session. During snack break we've all been enjoying mingling with the Sangha upstairs.

It's been a joy having Ann and Clark Zimmerman as part of the team of Dharma Kids leaders this year. They each lead wonderful meditations for the kids and bring a lightness to the group. Adam brings a bundle of laughter to the group with the fun Dharma games he leads. And Akash has been enjoying reading Shantideva’s How to Wake Up a Hero to the children.

The theme for December will be: The Middle Way.
One goal for the winter is to participate in service projects for the community, nourishing the seed of compassion within the heart of us all.

We are so grateful for the limitless kindness and compassion of the lamas, which makes the Dharma Kids program possible for the benefit of all sentient beings.
