Autumn Class Series: The Four Immeasurables

Six Tuesdays: Oct 12 - Nov 16, 2021
5:30 - 7:00 PM PST

with Lama Liza Baer
Online via Zoom

What would it feel like to experience a boundless heart? Imagine caring deeply for people near and far, and not feeling overwhelmed or burdened by it. Imagine instead a sense of boundless possibility, boundless life force with which to be of benefit. Practicing with the Four Immeasurables—Lovingkindness, Compassion, Rejoicing, and Equanimity—helps us develop these qualities within ourselves.

In Buddhism, we might hear about caring for all beings as our mothers. But what does mean? In each of these practices, we cultivate wishes for happiness and freedom from suffering, and in so doing, we run into the barriers within ourselves that block or interrupt this free flowing care. With curiosity and gentleness, we can be present with these habituated patterns and glimpse the possibility of freedom from these barriers. We can glimpse the experience of a boundless heart.

This autumn, Lama Liza will lead a six-week class series on the Four Immeasurables. We will learn about each immeasurable and train in different practices to explore them in our felt experience. We will both explore the challenges and cultivate the seeds—the causes and conditions—for each immeasurable to grow within us. Please join us in this online community to cultivate a boundless heart.
