with Lama Liza Baer
Online via Zoom
Buddha Shakyamuni taught the Four Foundations of Mindfulness in the Satipatthana Sutta, his most detailed teaching on the practice of mindfulness. These four are Mindfulness of Body, of Feeling, of Mind or Thought, and of Dharma or Phenomena. By practicing these Four Foundations, we explore the nuances ordinary experience, loosen our identification with each experience, and begin to discover freedom and space within it all.
In this daylong meditation retreat, Lama Liza will introduce us to these Four Foundations of Mindfulness through multiple periods of practice and short teachings throughout. We will mostly be in silence together to facilitate this experiential inquiry, with periods for questions and discussion. We will work with teachings and practices from Tsoknyi Rinpoche in his book Open Heart, Open Mind. You might like to read this book before or after our day of practice together.
We will practice together on Zoom from 9:00am to 12:00pm and 1:30pm to 4:30pm, with 1.5 hours for lunch and short breaks throughout.
Registration closes at midnight on Thursday August 12th. Zoom login and retreat information will be emailed to registrants on Friday August 13th.
