Ceremonial Arts Day

An In-Person Hands-On Training with Lama Yeshe

Shrine Service and Support of the Sanctuary

January 28, 2023 (10:00 - Noon & 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm)

Suggested Donation: $50 for the day ($35 reduced rate)

To begin the day, we will spend time around the shrine. What objects are placed on it, and why are those objects chosen to be there? We will hold and view many of the altar offerings, and get comfortable with moving around the shrine, as well as view the contents that are in storage below the visible levels of the altar.

We will particularly become familiar with the offering bowls, which are utilized at all practices and teachings in the sanctuary. How do we clean them? How do we fill them with appropriate offerings, and then “close” them at the end of practice?

Since this meeting will come just a few weeks before Losar (Tibetan New Year) on February 21-22, we will have a time to work in small teams to lift down the tangkas (silk paintings), dust them, and then rotate and re-hang them. Losar is associated with cleaning and refreshing our sacred spaces, so this is a fitting preparation.

And throughout the day, we will take turns preparing and delivering beverages to the teacher, becoming familiar and relaxed making this simple offering.

This training day is a chance for active members of the Ceremonial Arts team to refine their skills and have their questions answered. It is also open to anyone who seeks informative time in the sanctuary, and will provide a chance to have questions answered and become more comfortable in our shared sacred space.

All are welcome. This is an in-person, hands-on event..
