Residential Personal Practice Retreat

With Lama Pema and Lama Yeshe

Friday, May 17, 6 PM – Tuesday, May 21, 3 PM

Cascade Lodge in Hugo, Oregon

This retreat focuses on individual meditation, with three 90-minute sessions each day for individuals to study and practice in solitude. In addition, there will be periods of group silence, daily dharma talks, and group meditations.

To design your program, the lamas will set a time before the retreat to discuss your current practices and study interests. With their feedback and recommendations, you will design your practice day, and know what supportive materials to bring with you.

The retreat site is Cascade Mountain Ranch Retreat, a meeting and reunion venue in rural Josephine County. We will be housed in two spacious lodges, where each person or couple will have their own bedroom, with shared bathrooms. Shared vegetarian meals are prepared elsewhere on the property, and served outdoors at that location. A spacious kitchen is provided in each lodge for any private food needs.

There is a large living room in each lodge for indoor meetings, and a large deck outdoors at one lodge for group teachings and meditations. There is much land for individuals to utilize for private practice sessions, as well as one’s private bedroom. (In case of couples sharing a bedroom, we would recommend alternating its use for practice sessions.) There are also hiking trails.

We have chosen this site because of its large, rural and quiet setting, with few people on the property. The buildings and food are modest and plain – a good support for retreat. The fields and woods are very spacious, and we hope that they will support the spacious state of mind and privacy for our individual study and practice.
