May we all join in clearing obstacles from the past, to welcome in a new year!
Tibetan New Year is celebrated in late February this year. To honor Losar, we practice meditations of cutting through obstacles. This clears the energy of the old year, to make space for a fresh start.
Our Losar meditations are Mahakala, a fierce expression of loving kindness and compassion, followed by Chenrezig, a peaceful expression of loving kindness and compassion. These companion practices offer a balance of methods to lift the suffering of beings.
Lama Pema and Lama Yeshe will lead the practices, opening each with a short talk about Losar and the practices themselves. Mahakala will be done in chanted Tibetan with musical accompaniment; Condensed Chenrezig will be done in English, with the text appearing on the Zoom screen.
All are welcome to attend either or both of the meditations. For those who attend in person, you are invited to bring contributions of non-perishable foods to benefit the Talent Food Bank, and also clothing and warm camping gear for the center’s “In the Warm” project.
